Rick Beato

I saw a Rick Beato (cool name) video show up from multiple click throughs and I have been a fan since. Some stats from his Youtube main channel:

  • 4.3 million subs
  • 1.5k videos
  • just under 1 billion views at the time of writing
  • Constant good comments (and lots of them) which then generates discussion (especially with the "top" music lists)
  • The videos are well put together, professional and there is a relaxing nature, knowledge and it seems like you are talking with Rick and he is giving sage advice- backed up with proof.

For a music channel that chats about the best songs, the best synth lines or even chats to some well known celebs the Rick Beato channel is great.

Rick Beato also sells digital products through his main website- which is also a good idea to have the "money" away from something that could change at a moments notice.

So can Rick Beato do more?

Clearly Rick is doing something right to have all this Internet love. You will notice that this page is not that long because Rick has covered a lot of the bases. And when you go through his channel (there is also a RickBeato2 side channel), you don't notice anything that is missing, but you know that there is.

It is kinda weird. But it follows quite a few musicians who jump around from Youtube to their own website.

But as per always, we are seeing if we can help Rick and see if we can generate ideas and thoughts.

So we have a couple of issues which might not make a huge dent but might make the processes that little bit more efficient.

  • The second channel. This second channel, like most second or third channels for Youtubers needs to be something that is not the same as the first channel but is related to it. So MrBeasts other channels use the same audience he wants to channel into his main channel. So he has gaming and react videos. Rick Beatos is slightly longer videos- if noticeable. So why are they not on the main channel? The Rick second channel could easily be about the set ups for the videos that were created- interviews with the sessions artists, what synths, how were the acoustics done, how did Rick mix the set? The second channel could be about people sending in demo tracks and you checking them out, offering some advice. People could ask questions on mixing, mastering, the business etc. It increases leverage of the videos from the first channel.

  • The products. Now it might be the link that was clicked on but it listed the products with a brief description, some had a more detailed description/ page dedicated to them. But I came from Youtube from this link:

Now I get that you are offering the bundle, but is there any way to see what each product is? So, you have each one listed as the above picture but each product is hyperlinked and then at the bottom of the products have the bundle price with the value. [update] when looking through the Arpeggio Masterclass it is under beatoguitar.com, which is cool. Unsure why not RickBeato.com/ArpeggioMasterclass.

Its only that, when you go to your page, I wanted to know fully what was involved in the Beginners Guitar, but I just get some text and no hyperlink:

It would also be nice if the products looked similar to each other, like they are actually branded. The Beato Beginners Guitar looks cool, but why not The Beato Arpeggio Course or The Beato Quick  Lessons?

  • The Arpeggio Masterclass. There are not a vast amount of promotional videos on this page. Sure there is a promo video at the start (which is not Youtube). But how about a few more thoughout? Also, you might need some testimonials. Some cool ones would be video generated. Having "In-depth video lessons on mastering arpeggios across the fingerboard" needs to be more detailed. I know we can see how many videos, but just state, 16 (or the number) detailed professional videos from acclaimed Youtuber Rick Beato.
  • Youtube stats. Most of the people viewing your products are probably going to be from Youtube, but even so, promote what you have awesomely accomplished on Youtube- states, views, background. There isn't too much about Rick, your studio, your session artists, the hard work you put into creating music/ producing
  • Networking/ contact. It is probably there, but I can not find where to subscribe to a mailing list or something else to hear about you. I might not want to sub to Youtube. But as CharlesBerthold found out, having a back up is a really good idea. The mailing list could also have discounts, promotions and be a stable source of fans.
  • BeatoClub. How do you become a member? Might be completely obvious but don't see how on your description
  • Merch? Now this could be the usual T-Shirts but you could also be very music specific - like picks, guitar wire, cleaning materials. Then going up, affiliate maybe, but there is an opportunity for private labelling here.
  • Marketing. Unsure if this is a route to go down, but maybe maybe not another channel, but how about how do people get into the music industry, especially indi side? Again, with your contacts there could be chapters and chapters of tips and tricks. First off probably suggesting how to "pro" your music- which could generate more products. Pro mastering for guitar bands etc.
  • Do you have a label?
  • Rick Beato gigs/ online shows. So you subscribe or watch for free artists play through a virtual concert?

As always we wish Rick Beato all the best
