What Format For Kindle Ebook Do You Need?

Uploading to Amazon KDP is not difficult at all. So what format for Kindle ebook do you need?

Well, we use a Word file.

Then Amazon converts it for you. Depending upon the size of the book it can take seconds to a minute or two.

But. Amazon is going to stop using .mobi formats from 18th March 2025. The new list would look like this:

.htm
.html
.azw
.epub
.rtf
.txt
.pdf
.kpf

I found that using .docx from Word is helpful. PDF is fine but I find that it hasn't been changed in any way with the original document.

And because Amazon converts it anyway, then there is no need to worry about multiple conversions. Also, you don't need to buy software to convert your file. Just upload to Amazon and they sort it out for you.
